Baby swings?
Which baby swing do you prefer? I have been looking at the Graco easy entry swings, and also the Graco Lovin' Hug swings...there are just so many to choose from! Of course I am looking for one that is safe and dependable that won't break the bank....Any suggestions? Also would you recommend a bouncy seat? I'm not sure if we even need one but as with the swings, there's lots of choices...Thanks!
The swing has been a life saver. I have the Graco Lovin Hugs Swing and it's great. There are a few drawbacks but easy to live with.
Pros:
Fits 5lb to 30lb which is the largest range for a swing and means it can be used longer than most
Has a 5 point harness so even when baby can start to sit up and try to get out you can strap him in real well
Seat has multiple reclining positions adjustable with one hand
Has the heartbeat sound which did wonders when my boy was first born
Battery life is decent - I use the swing for probably about 3 hours a day (he will only nap there) and I go through a set of batteries every 2 weeks (cheap batteries) - If you get expensive batteries you might get a month, if you can invest in two sets of rechargeables, it will save you money in the long run.
Seat comes off rather easily and for a full size swing it isn't bad if you want to take it with you somewhere if you have a van or big trunk. We took it camping.
Relatively quiet, you can hear it but it's not the clicking like the old crank ones.
Cons:
Don't use the mobile - it falls off and is a pain to get it to swing right. You have to move it out of the way to get the baby and it tends to pop off, sometimes when baby is in the swing (it's not heavy though)
The tray snaps in very, very tightly - I usually don't latch it but once baby gets more mobile you will be glad it locks down so well
Needs lots of floor space and isn't all that mobile. It does sort of fold up but I use it so much it never gets put away.
I am glad we spent the extra for two reasons - the heartbeat sound and the fact that it goes up to 30lbs instead of 25. It seems very well made and I do recommend it, just don't use the mobile.
Edit - my boy doesn't really like his bouncy seat. He's too young and doesn't know how to bounce it himself. Of course mine is an old school winnie the pooh plain bouncer. The newer ones have toys and activities and such but it really won't be useful until he is 3-4 months old and starts showing an interest in toys.
