How did your toddler take an arrival of a new baby?
My baby boy is 8 months old right now, and I just found out I am pregnant again (a pleasant surprise...) My son will be 14 months when the baby is born. How did your kids that young take an arrival of a new baby? Will my son be willing to share toys? Right now at 8 months, he is a "laid back" baby, happy and friendly.
My middle daughter was 22mts when my son was born. She was really too young to understand what would happen I think.
We did look at a lot of baby books, she heard me talk about it and stuff. But still she was too young.
My mother in law brought her to see me while in the hospital. She was glad to see me ofcourse and the baby. She cried some when she had to leave though (she & her sister spent the night with my mother in law while I was in the hospital)
When we came home my inlaws brought the girls back and my 6yr old was thrilled, but my middle daughter who was 22mts was a little confused. I was sitting holding her brother when she came in the room and I quickly handed him over so I could hug my daughters.
My 6yr old couldn't wait to hold her new brother, but when we put my son in my 22mt old lap he cried. She pushed him away. lol Thankfully I was holding him.
Honestly it took a week or so to adjust. I breastfed my son and he wanted to eat EVERY HOUR the first few days. (OW!) My girls sure didn't do that. The girls slept upstairs and we plus the baby were downstairs so the noise didn't bother her.
She really did adjust well. We have cute photos of both of them in diapers. lol Honestly they are more like twins being so close. We had no problems early on sharing toys and stuff.
Now they are both 9 & 7. Some days they are best friends and other days they are enemys. Most of the time they get along well.
